Got some photos from Dan who just installed our chrome antiqued tank emblems on his 2015 Chief Road-master. Beautiful bike Dan!! Thanks for the photos!!

My friend Gary has found a new way to mount the point cover he got from me....I felt this was very well done and a very need to see job. The point cover was gold that I buffed to reflect some of the chrome underneath the gold plate and then antiqued. Gary also added a gold arrow shift rod to his ride. Looks GREAT Gary!!

Brian sent me a photo today of the arrow shift rod he got from me and he has added a few extra touches along with a lot of ingenuity and determination!! This was for the 2015 Scout and it took some doing to get it to fit, but Brian was persistent and this is the end result. Thanks for all the updates and for giving me a lot of good laughs through all this....you are an awesome dude....guess that's why you ride an Indian!! Ride safe my friend!!

Customer out of Australia who purchased Gas Cap Covers and did some modification:

"I found that because the whole surface is so highly chromed ( as advertised), the detail of the Indian Head motif was a bit hard to make out, so with this in mind I painted the whole surface with black paint, waited a short while and wiped it off again with a rag. This resulted in the indentations of the motif being highlighted, allowing the Indian head design to become easily view-able. ...

I love it, others may not......."

Jason in Arizona just received his new tank emblems but has not installed them as yet....but it looks like he has his thumb on the project!! Nice looking bike Jason!!

I Recently sold a coil cover to a young man in San Jose. Here is a couple of photos of the bike. The bike belonged to his father who ust recently passed away. The painted tank emblems are from the limited edition we did back in 2002, same as the ones I have on my Chief. I have so enjoyed getting to know this young man, I can tell he has a lot of respect for his father and for his Indian Chief that he rides with pride now that it has been passed down to him. When I purchased my 2000 Chief I quickly found there was nothing available accessory wise for the bike, so we went to work and created several custom parts for the new motorcycle. Some of the parts are now all but extinct, however, we still have an abundance of the parts that were well produced and will be offering them to you here. Instructions for Indian Head Tank Emblem Installation

Please read these instructions completely before installing your new emblems!!!

You have received your new tank emblems and need to follow these instructions to help you install them correctly on to your motorcycle. Easiest way to remove the old emblem is to either leave it in the sun for a little while, or use a hair dryer to heat them up, then use a piece of dental floss to slowly cut through the double stick tape and remove the old emblem. I use a chemical called Acrysol to remove the remaining tape. It also serves to clean the surface before applying the new emblems. If this is not available, look for a product that will not damage the painted surface of the tank, and it must contain not silicone whatsoever. After you have removed all the tape from the tank, follow these instructions. First, and this is very important! Clean the tank thoroughly using hot water and soap. Make sure that the soap is something like Dawn dishwashing soap, as it takes away grease very well. Also make sure that you wipe the tank clean with a clean cloth that has never been used to remove wax or any other silicone based product. Silicone or wax residue will cause the emblem to not stay on the tank!! Once the tank is clean and ready, I recommend that you park the bike out in the sun and allow the tank to warm up as much as possible. If you cannot put it in the sun due to overcast or such, use a hair dryer to warm up the tank where you will install the emblems. Before you use the hair dryer, you must first decide where they need to mount. Place the emblem on the side of the tank and you can see where it should be mounted. It sort of falls into place and you will be able to tell where it goes. I would mark the tank with tape or a black crayon so you know exactly where it is going to go before you remove the paper backing and go to stick it down. Once it hits the metal surface, it becomes very hard to remove it and re-stick it again. If the emblem needs to be adjusted slightly, and I mean slightly, you can use a wooden mallet or a large wooden dowel and a piece of 4x4 for a bench as a means of adjusting it. You use the 4x4 as a table and lay the emblem on it tape side down and gently work it with the wooden mallet or dowel to flatten it slightly. DO NOT POUND ON THE EMBLEM LIKE A WILD MAN, YOU WILL BREAK IT!!!!! The wooden dowel is generally a much better object to use as most people get a hammer in their hands and they forget how hard they are hitting something. TAKE YOUR TIME! You just want to make sure that the emblem fits snugly against the tank and that the bonnet tail is not sticking out. Using the hair dryer to heat it up a bit can help the process. When you have the emblem set to fit like you want it, lay the emblems tape side down in the sun for a little while till they heat up, heat up the side of your tank and then remove the tape and attach them to the tank on your motorcycle. Apply pressure to the emblem against the tank for a good 30 seconds to make sure they stick. Let the bike sit in the sun for awhile adding pressure to the emblems a couple of times to assure they have a good adhesion to the tank and then move the bike into the shade and allow the tank and emblems to cool down. You’re done, Enjoy!!

Note:
The emblems are handmade from a combination of metals that will allow small adjustments. Extreme adjustments will cause it to break, especially the tail coming off the bonnet, so use extreme care when making your adjustments. The original pair of emblems were installed on a 2000 Chief in early 2001 and have remained in place ever since. Just follow the instructions and you will have the same success. I've had a customer who was not able to determine the sweet spot on the take where the emblems rest perfectly in place. As a precaution, you may wish to cut a hole in the back of the tape on the emblem about the size of a nickel and put silicone in the hole. Peal the paper and secure the emblems to the tank by wrapping the tank with a piece of sheet or other cloth that you can tie to keep the emblems in place till the silicone dries. Gas Cap Cover Installation Help

If you have purchased a set of gas cap covers please follow these instructions. First and foremost make sure you clean the existing cap with rubbing alcohol to ensure the surface is clean and free of any silicone or other non stick substances.

Put the bike in the sun and allow to the gas caps to heat up or use a hair dryer to heat up the caps making sure they are good and warm. I would recommend leaving the new gas cap covers sitting on the seat of your bike to allow them to warm up as well and use a hair dryer to heat up the inside of the covers just before you stick them to the gas caps. Once everything has been heated up, remove the paper inside the new cap and place them onto the existing gas cap with as much pressure as possible for 30 seconds. The cap should now be firmly attached and ready to go. I recommend checking your covers now and then by applying pressure to them just to make sure they always have a good seal. I have always done this when I put gas in my bike just to always make sure they are staying in place. Mine have been on my bike since early 2002 with no issues. I would recommend that you also follow the procedure below for the 2014 models and use a bead of silicon around the inside of the cap, just for extra securing of the cap to your gas cap.

2014/2015 models: If you are looking to install these on a 2014 cap, you may run into a more rounded dome on the gas cap itself making it less surface area for the tape to adhere to. I recommend that you use a good bead of silicon around the outside inner edge of the cap allowing the silicone to come in contact with the outside edge of your gas cap. I would let the silicone dry for a good 24 hours to insure it has made good solid contact before taking your bike out on the road. This is a good practice for everyone to use when installing caps to assure a really good and secure fit, no matter what year bike you have.

2014/2015 Gas Cap Cover Installation

If you are looking to install these on a 2014 or 2015 gas cap, you may run into a more rounded dome on the gas cap itself making it less surface area for the tape to adhere to. First off be sure to follow the above instructions for installing the gas cap covers. Before installing the cover on your gas cap I recommend that you use a good bead of silicon around the outside inner edge of the cap (see photo above) allowing the silicone to come in contact with the outside edge of your gas cap as you are applying pressure to the cover. I would let the silicone dry for a good 24 hours to insure it has made good solid contact before taking your bike out on the road. Silicone may be added to all cap installations to insure it staying in place and is removable in future should you decide you want to take them off.
